Riding the Wave
The Holy Spirit and surfing have a lot in common. If you’ve ever been surfing then you know that a wave has a power of its own. We don’t create or control the wave. We can only respond to it and go along for the ride.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “The Spirit blows where it wills.” We don’t control the Holy Spirit, nor can we manipulate how the Spirit works. We can only respond to what the Spirit is doing and jump on for the ride. And what a ride it is.
This new sermon series is an invitation. Whether you’ve never gotten in the water for yourself – or you’ve been surfing with the Spirit for years – there’s a place for you on the wave. Together we’re going explore what it looks like to ride the wave of God’s Holy Spirit and how to experience the joy, power, and purpose that comes when we daily walk in the Spirit.
Here’s a sampling of some of the questions we’ll look at during this series. Should we think of the Holy Spirit as a person or as some floaty, invisible substance? What does God’s Spirit want to accomplish in us and through us? How do we hear and listen to the Holy Spirit? How should we understand the gifts of the Spirit?
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am as we work through these topics and more. And you might want to bring your surf board!
