Theo Night

Good theology is not just a system of beliefs but a way of life. It should include both “orthodoxy” (right thinking) and “orthopraxy” (right living). This is why Augustine said that good theology isn’t just true; it also leads you to love God and love others more.

Join us on April 29th from 7:00-9:30 pm in the chapel for Theo Night. The topic is the resurrection of the Son of God. What difference does it make that the Jesus’ resurrection was bodily? How are we to understand our future resurrection as his followers? And does the resurrection have implications for how we live in the city today? Lisa Heath and Keas Keasler will be responding to these questions and more.

After the teaching there will be plenty of time for Q&A and discussion. And since theology is always better with a little stimulation, coffee and snacks will be provided. The location is 6565 SW 57th Ave, and please email Lisa Heath if you have any questions.

The Face of God

John Donne once wrote, “No man ever saw God and lived. And yet, I shall not live till I see God; and when I have seen him, I shall never die.”

What does it mean to see the face of God? And why do we find the prayer for God’s face to shine upon us throughout the Old Testament?

Recently our community explored these questions and looked deeper into what the incarnation means for how we see and know the Almighty. In Jesus, God has shined his face upon us in the most intimate way. You can listen to the sermon here.

Theo Night Teaching

At our most recent Theo Night we looked at the topic of women in leadership. What does the Bible say about women serving in ministry? And how should these passages be interpreted? Listen in as Keas Keasler and Lisa Health respond to these questions. There is also a time of Q&A at the end which touches upon how we should understand the roles of husbands and wives in marriage as well as what it means to be a man or woman in God’s new humanity.

Theology determines how you see everything – God, yourself, others, and the world around you. So theology matters. Rhythm will be hosting a Theo Night quarterly to help us engage with theological issues that are relevant for how we understand and live out our faith.

Theo Night

Theology doesn’t have to be boring. If you think about it, your theology determines how you see everything – God, yourself, others, and the world around you. So theology matters. And the last thing it should be is boring. As Albert Einstein once said, “I want to know the mind of God. Everything else is just details.”

Join us on September 17th from 7:00-9:30 pm in the chapel for our first Theo Night. The topic is women in leadership. What does the Bible say about women serving in ministry? And how should these passages be interpreted? Keas Keasler and Lisa Health will be responding to these questions and more.

After the teaching there will be plenty of time for Q&A and discussion. And since theology is always better with a little stimulation, coffee and snacks will be provided. The location is 6565 SW 57th Ave, and please email Lisa Heath if you have any questions.
